A mother of twins, sharing a residence with a man found her her 17-month old daughter’s diaper filled with blood. The 31-year-old man, named Kafui Goli, was just recently sentenced to 20-years in prison for raping the baby.

He is also the father of one daughter.

When she called for her child, the 31-year old man asked if they child could stay longer, the mother agreed. When she finally came for her child around 7 pm, she returned to her home where she found the baby had been raped (defiled).

According to the news story below;

The prosecutor said the complainant went to the Police at Madina and lodged a complaint.It said a Police medical form was issued to the complainant to seek medical care.After the medical examination the complainant returned the endorsed medical form to the Police.

Instead of the police taking the mother and child to the hospital she was sent to pay for the forms and return to the police. The nonchalant way of handling rape in Ghana and many other countries is a complete joke.

Police are making it the issue of the victims, or the victims parents to get forms filled out and pay for examinations. This incident took place in 2021 and it’s almost 2024 and this 17-month old baby is finally getting justice.

Sadly this well affect her for the rest of her life. Rape cases in Ghana are rarely reported because many women and girls can’t afford the fees for the forms and examinations.
