3rd Highest Pregnancy Rate In The World
Kenya has been listed to have the third highest teenage pregnancy rate in the world, not only that there is a rise in HIV infections. In the news Kenyans were shocked to learn how high the incidents of teenaged pregnancies had gone. During the lockdown some 1,400 girls between the ages of 10–19 years old became pregnant, in just one single county. As schools and businesses closed for the pandemic, forcing children to return to homes with adults who were also out of work.
President Uhuru placed the blame on music, he also told Pharmacies to NOT provide birth control to younger children. Since the end of the lockdown, the higher pregnancy rates continue to climb. With a lack of sex education, teaching and refusal to use condoms, more teenagers are becoming pregnant. This is cause for great concern, many are poverty stricken, bare babies with low birth weights and poor health conditions. With an increase in sexually transmitted infections.
