#1 The strangest thing I’ve heard about American money — American currency expires. Living in Kenya from a banker, from my husband’s family members as well as some associates, “your American money expires!” I went to exchange money from a bank I was told that the money was not good because it has already expired.

I was bewildered to find out that this bank worker thought that the series printing number on the 20 dollar bills were the expiration date. I tried to understand but didn’t get an explanation. I didn’t want to argue to I learned about Forex trading for currency exchange.

Also don’t take bills less than 50 USD to exchange with you when you go to Africa, make sure the bills are not dirty, wrinkled or torn. They will not accept them for exchange. Side note I want to go to Cambodia they take USD the same applies for there I’ve heard. Get clean, crisp, undamaged bills before you travel.

Also since the dollar is more than most of their currencies value they think it will last them long while
